Balboa Park was one of the first places I went to when I found my love for night photography. I’ve always enjoyed the area during the day, I wanted to see what kind of photos I could come up with when I went there during the night time.
One of my first shots was of the building that held The Prado Restaurant, The Museum of Photographic Arts, and The Railroad Museum. We walked past the lily pond and I set my camera up on the little walk bridge that is in front of the Botanical Building. I turned around and had a perfect view of the lily pond and the wonderful architecture of the museums. There wasn’t anyone else taking photos on the bridge so I was able to set up right in the middle. The photos came out great, I was very happy with them. After about 5 minutes of being there, the group of photographers came over to the bridge to take similar shots.
Nearby, I also took photos of the fountain that is in front of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Getting a photo I was happy with was just a matter of how much I wanted to show the movement of the water. I played around with a lot of settings to get one that I was happy with.
On the opposite end of the Balboa Park, I went towards the bridge where the San Diego Museum of Man was. I wanted to take this night as an opportunity to highlight the great architecture that Balboa Park is full of.
